FABRICA FEATURES OPENS IN ROTTERDAM
When: 21 May, 2007 Where: Blaak 10, Rotterdam What: Exhibition
YOU ARE HERE
an exhibition about identities and perceptions
After Paris, Fabrica inaugurates at the Blaak 10 space in Rotterdam a new temporary store which will stay open until December 2007.
The occasion is the opening of YOU ARE HERE, an exhibition showing the results of a workshop held by Fabrica at the Willem de Kooning Academy last March and presenting a series of new products reinterpreting the Delph blue and the typical Dutch pottery of the 17th century.
Invited by the French Embassy Cultural service last March, Sam Baron, head of Fabrica Design, has held a workshop titled “From Tulips to Baguettes” with a multidisciplinary group of 30 students of the Willem De Kooning Academy on the “Identity” issue: what it means in a tridimensional space (interior, architecture, products and over the borders of countries) and how it is defined culturally.
Besides the results of the workshop, the exhibition will also present some new Fabrica Features products, useful and practical objects designed for an open-minded audience and infused with a young and creative perception. The Fabrica Features collections are always changing and evolving, just as the artistic community at Fabrica, whilst maintaining quality and vision. Fabrica Features is also the name of a network of commercial and cultural spaces which are currently opened in Bologna, Montecatini, Lisbon, Hong Kong and Istanbul. Fabrica Features is a multiethnic, multimedia and multipurpose space where concerts, video shows, live performances, conferences, one-person shows and workshops become key opportunities for gathering together.
