SURROGATES CITIES- VENEZIA
an opera by Heiner Goebbels
in collaboration with Fabrica
for the opening of the
Music Biennal in Venice at Teatro La Fenice

The Music Biennal opens this year, at the La Fenice theatre, with a special performance of “Surrogate Cities”, a 90 minute orchestra cycle on urbanity by Heiner Goebbels.
For this specific performance of SURROGATE CITIES VENEZIA the German composer and music-theatre-director Heiner Goebbels has been collaborating with a team of Fabrica creative artists, operating in the video and interactive areas. The visual impact of the performance offers the audience a wide range of exciting perspectives to the subject- with numerous images and insights from big cities around the world, together with Venice. Audio design, syncronized with videos through a “live video system” has also been realized by Fabrica.
SURROGATE CITIES is a contemporary portrait of the urban life, inspired by authors such as Franz Kafka, Paul Auster, Heiner Müller, Italo Calvino and Hugo Hamilton.
