Theme of this number: IDEALS
When: 07 March, 2005 What: Announcement
FAB 03
IDEALS
FOR HER
The ideal is: eat without getting fat, get mail in your mailbox that is addressed to you, read the paper in the bathtub, have time to wax rather than shave, someone who looks right into your eyes, getting one-way tickets or return tickets but with someone to wait at home for you, never stop dreaming about a blue being on a white horse, the ideal is a verb declined in the conditional.
Otherwise what kind of ideal would it be?
FOR HIM
The ideal is: a beautiful sunny day, an affectionate husband and a compliant wife, a house with a garden, peace, communism, Beckham’s shoes, Beckham’s wife or at the very least my cousin’s, a television with 99 channels, a satellite dish that gets all kinds of Tv, a new car with a bar fridge and an automatic pilot, the Star Trek transporter or, at the very least, trains that run on time, safe sex, sex anyway, a radio that only transmits good news. All the things I don’t have.
…Beware of ideals. The best they can do is to be just the same as your expectations!
Fabrica is an ideal place and, like all ideal places, it stops being ideal as soon as it takes on real forms.
Knowing this we thought it would be interesting to try and talk about some ideal concepts like art, love, family, heroes, idols starting from a unique, sometimes paradoxical point.
The result? There’s only one possible road to take in order to survive the disappointment of the destruction of an ideal: irony!
Young artists from all over the world have filled the first thirty pages of FAB 03 with short stories and images for interpreting the theme Ideals, destroying ironically our ideal of an artist, of a hero, of an happy family, of love, of communication and advertising.
After Roman Coppola, Niccolò Ammaniti, Stephen Gill, FAT, guest stars of this number are Campana Brothers and Abake.
