SUPER M - THE SUPER ANTIHERO
Super M’s life doesn’t seem different from millions of other people’s: he lives in a house in the suburbs, goes to work every day in his car, does every day chores such as grocery shopping and laundry, and in his spare time he likes to keep his garden and play dominos. Super M has no special powers or abilities that grow over the average man’s, but he’s on a quest..
On a quest to salute daily life: pumping those gasoline pumps for all they’ve got, not resting until he’s discovered which toilet paper has just the right softness, and only holidaying when he’s made sure his laundry is spotlessly drying in the wind.. He is, after all, the one and only Super M.
Super M is a character and project created by Alejandro Mingarro and Rebekka Ehlers whilst they were in Fabrica in 2004-05. The project consists of a photo series, an animation, music, and a series of merchandise.
Alejandro Mingarro (designer) and Rebekka Ehlers (photographer) crossed paths in Italy when they both received scholarships from Fabrica in 2004.
Alejandro originates from a Spanish background having studied industrial design at Escola Elisava in Barcelona as well as in Holland and the UK.
Rebekka’s education has been more of a self-constructed one with studies and work periods in her native Denmark and London.
When Rebekka and Alejandro clashed in Fabrica, a funny understanding between them quickly developed, and, since then, they’ve taken every opportunity to collaborate on projects together. Their first collaboration is Super M – The Super Antihero, and future ones include The Monster With Moccasin Shoes and Meet The Pimples.
