Frederico graduated from the Faculdade de Belas Artes in Lisbon in January of 2003, and two weeks later, just before Chinese New Year (Goat, like his sign), flew to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he lived and worked for 6 months at the design department of Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur. Coming back to Portugal in August of the same year after 2 weeks holiday on the island of Borneo, he joined Experimenta, the non-profit association promoter of Experimentadesign – Lisbon Biennale, where he worked till November 2004, doing everything but graphic design.
Having been invited to be assistant curator for industrial design to the ‘1990-2004 Architecture and Design from Portugal’ exhibition, he travelled to Italy in November to set it up at the Triennale di Milano, which included mounting a table made of thousands of sheets of paper for 8 hours and shaking hands with the President of Portugal in the opening.
Working since November 15th at Fabrica’s Visual Communication department, he is also graphic design curator for Voyager05, a travelling exhibition of Portuguese creativity, promoted by Experimentadesign.
He understands the 5 main european languages, plus a bit of Malay and Cantonese (well, just a bit), and would like to leave Italy after his internship with a Venetian accent.
