project of FABRICA MUSICA and SARTRA LAOSOONGNOEN, ARNON KANJANAPO’, WUTTHICHAI LIMCHOEY, WICHAI POOPECHRA, KRENGKRAI ONSUMARNG, students of the BANDITPATTANASILAPA INSTITUTE
On 12 March 2006, exotic, far-off Thailand will be at hand. At the doors of Rome, within the splendid frame of Frascati’s Sala delle Scuderie Aldobrandine, five young Thai musicians from the Banditpattanasilapa Institute, who are currently students at Fabrica, Benetton’s communication research center, will present traditional Thai melodies exclusively for the Festival Mondi Riemersi.
The performance will be carried out in accordance with the traditional Thai musical tradition called Wong-Phi-Pad, executed only during important special occasions.
With the help of traditional instruments, especially hand-carved by the craftsmen at the Banditpattanasilapa Institute and kindly loaned by the Institute, together with others on loan from the Thai embassy, for an hour the five musicians will envelop the audience in an atmosphere composed of melodies that alternate situations that are animal and natural (like the piece inspired by the movements of a deer) with more sacred atmospheres (the piece blessing the audience and site of the concert), until the final salute, with a crescendo of emotions.
