I almost voted - such emotive images. Yet Time Magazine's use of the phrase 'Best photos of the year' and vote for your 'favourite' photo turned me off... how can you have a favourite image of despair and suffering or a best image of death and destruction?
Why not vote for the most exciting combat footage of the year or the most stylish terrorist accessory ?

If you want something other than "despair and suffering", then vote for Matthew Braddock in "His Sacrifice." He wanted to be a pirate for Halloween, but he couldn't figure out how to make himself a peg leg in time.
He despaired. He suffered. He overcame. He triumphs.
