As a regular FABRICA reader and University of Florida student, I feel it important to share the tone of the community since the horrific events.

For the week of the incident everything seemed out of control on campus. Nobody felt safe or secure. How could we trust the police and school administration if their judgment is so incredibly skewed? There were matches, sit-ins, and press conferences. One could see media trucks all over campus. The student response was fierce. Despite the global attention there has been little difference in the Gainesville community. Two of the six officers were places on paid leave, while the situation is "investigated". Many students doubt anything will ever be done. It seems UF response is more about control, then education and a stronger, smarted community.

In a way we have been punished for the offensive and outrageous actions of out police. Next Thursday, Dr. Kevorkian, controversial for physical-assisted suicide, was scheduled to speak. Several thousand were expected for attendance. Since the taser incident, the event was canceled, so that the school may investigate and implement proper protocol. It is a shame that our university continues to breeds fear rather then knowledge.

at the time of the incident, they showed clips of it on Fox News and NBC... but they edited out his question. They just showed him resisting arrest and becoming agressive. Go team Murdoch!
