Kitra Cahana has entered the building
A new fabricante. Kitra Cahana, born in the USA, raised in Sweden and a Canadian national, recently joined the photography department. Say hi to her while she tries to rub up against your ideas.
What have you been doing before?
I've been in New York City for the past four months interning at the New York Times. Aside from that, my year at Fabrica will be a year away from my academic studies at Mcgill University in Montreal. I'll return to the long hours at the Mcgill library, reading and writing papers for my Philosophy B.A next September.
How did you know about fabrica and how did you come here?
Fabrica and I were introduced mutually at a party last year at the Visa Pour L'image festival in Perpignan. I had a short (read: 2 min) meeting with Enrico Bossan at which time I agreed to come. Et voila.
What do you expect to learn from your time here?
I hope to dip into all the alien languages spoken here at Fabrica. People visualizing and paraphrasing the world in different mediums. I hope to rub up against other’s ideas - and then hopefully design a vocabulary of my own. In my time here I’d also like to master playing meaningfully.
What are you most looking forward to?
Turning into a new kind of creature- one which considers creative creation as a forethought. And of course uncovering a new chapter of adventures.
Anything else you'd like to share with us today?
