| After a period of confusion following our last meeting with the Fabrica mangement, Paolo Jannuzzi took time out yesterday to answer our questions regarding the future of Fabrica. I would like to share some points, which I consider to be important to bring transparency to us students and those people willing to apply to Fabrica. As well I would like to correct things which where not clearly phrased at the last meeting and then published on this blog.
Paolo Jannuzzi highlighted that Fabrica doesn't want to become just an advertising agency. The idea is to divide Fabrica into two clear directions. One part will be 'Factory', an advertising agency willing to become well recognized on the international market. The other part will be dedicated to non-commercial driven and research based projects. Fabrica's students will work exclusive on these projects. The application process will change. Fabrica will still revise portfolios but the selection process will be tougher than before. New students are more likely to be recruited through headhunting and networking with schools and universities - also Fabrica will ask to send in rather project ideas and visions than portfolios. If an idea is chosen, Fabrica will provide the author with the necessary resources. A contract will be offered with the clear goal of realizing the author's vision. The contract lasts as long as is needed to achieve this goal. This could be just two months, but could also be years. In addition Fabrica would like to open up to other disciplines related to communication like science, psychology, ... Everybody's portfolio received in the last weeks or months will still be reviewed and treated with as much respect as possible. For everybody who is considering to send in portfolios or ideas I personally suggest to wait until next month, when the process will be more clearly and officially phrased. Regarding Paolo Jannuzzi, Fabrica is making an effort to bring back some students who left in the last weeks, because there was no time to sort out new contracts and visas. For us students it has been important to be able to ask questions. The situation seems much more transparent and we can now leave for the christmas break to our home countries with a clear mind. |

in response to the first question I was at the meeting. they said they want to raise the age to 29 but theyre still looking at the legal aspect of doing so with visas and such. All and things sound a little more positive lets hope the lines of communication stay in tac.
