Southern California Wildfires
You probably already know about the wildfires in southern California that have tragically been burning for nearly a month now, claiming nearly 500,000 acres (200,300 hectares), 1500 homes, 7 lives and 85 injuries so far. But you probably didn't know that Google has a new feature which pinpoints each fire on a map and tells you if its burning or contained.

It's pretty sad what's going on in California. It's also sad that Fox News tried spinning the facts and reporting that a released document said that Al Qaeda had planned on setting forest fires as part of their terrorist attacks. Even though the document was released about 4 years ago and there was no mention of California in it. FOX NEWS - "Keeping U.S civilians as scared as possible." Anyway, the google maps of the fires and how contained they are is pretty impressive.
